Crafting fun.

It's been forever since I've posted about the crafts I've been working on. Since I'm so behind (and the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years decorations are back in storage) I will just give you a taste of the recent things. Here are a few things that I've been up to recently.

P.S. My sweet husband bought me a Silhouette! And I am in love. I am still discovering all of the magic it has to offer, but I am having a blast making stuff so far.

For Christmas I made the girls in my book club each an owl rice bag. I just started messing around with the shapes and created a little pattern and I think they turned out pretty cute. In my opinion the pictures don't do them justice.

I've ended up making a few 'batches' of these for friends and family for Christmas. I got pictures of some of them but not all of them. I also ended up selling them at the craft show Oh Sweet Sadie earlier this month, and they sold surprisingly well. I totally forgot to take pictures of that 'batch' which makes me wanna cry because they were my favorites! But I'll be making more for upcoming shows so I will remember to take photos.

These Owls are great for hot/cold compresses, home decor or book ends.

I wanted to use up some of the junk awesome supplies that have just been sitting in boxes with all my craft stuff for years. So I dug these boards out and a bunch of cardstock that I had and started mod podging. I first painted,

then added the paper, then stamped some X's and O's and some hearts,

 and tada: Valentine decor.

Nothing great, but considering they cost me $0.00 I was satisfied.

My friend Nichole and I made a bunch of Valentine banners. Again using only cardstock we had, that was just collecting dust, just begging to be put to use. (Plus some old books)

I used some of them as decor for our book club meeting that I hosted in January.

The book page banners were my favorite.

Some Valentine cards, tags and boxes for Scotty, Jaxon and Chloe. All made using the silhouette and again old cardstock.

This is a foam wreath that I wrapped in scrap fabric I had back in October, originally for Halloween. I decided to put the flowers I made onto a felt strip. That way I can just pin in onto the wreath and switch it out for each holiday. So far I have made a Halloween piece, Thanksgiving piece, a Christmas piece and now this one. I love that I can keep the same wreath and just swap out the flowers.

We packaged up some of the banners and sold some at Oh Sweet Sadie.

Nichole sewing away.

These are the easiest thing to make! Just take any cardstock, or books and use different size circle punches (or a silhouette) to cut out a bunch of circles. Organize and sew. Easy Peazy.

Me, sewing more...we made a TON of these things!

I painted these wine bottles white and then covered them in mod podge and then rolled them in epsom salt.  Its hard to tell in the pictures but it gives them a snowy look. I made these for Christmas, but kept them out for Valentines day.

So easy, and all I had to buy was the salt which was $1! Score!
I am pretty stocked to have started to make a dent in my craft supplies. Making crafts with stuff I already have is rad. Isn't Pinterest amazing? It sucks that it just proves that I steal everyone else's ideas but whatev... isn't that what we all do?

What fun crafts have you made lately?

  1. Yes! We all do that...well I do too! That wreath swapping flowers idea is genius! I love crafts that don't cost a thing too! (or very little).
